A new Ford GT is not more than twice the car of a new Acura NSX, despite being more than twice the price. Plus, the Acura looks better.

It’s good, but it’s no Corolla coupe.

Pricing goes up expontentially, it’s very common for a car to be twice the price but not twice the car. Is a 488 twice the car of an Alfa 4c? Does it matter?

The 4C is fun, but very flawed. The 488 is just pure fun, without any of the 4C’s major flaws. It’s also a bit better in every measure except weight and overall lateral acceleration (IIRC), so I would say you’re getting about twice as much car as with the 4C.

The Ford GT, while not a great looking car, is certainly better looking than the beaked NSX.

I don’t see a beak.

The back of the new GT looks like a pig from Angry Birds. I rest my case.

So beaky.

I think you’ve forgotten what true beakiness looks like.

What is though?

They’re both meh. They got twin turbo V6's. Whoopdeedoo. I want V12!!

Confessions? I confess that I don’t really care about supercar designs (unless it’s a Gumpert). Can I drive it every day (Gallardo, NSX, Maserati coupe, R8, whatevs) or will it be a garage queen, like Ferraris or Paganis or Bugattis? If I’m pot committed, give me the R8 or the Gallardo. They look just great compared to those BMWs and Infinitis that cross the bridges from Jersey.

Still too beaky.

Good point. 488 vs GT-R?

I bet a Corvette Grand Sport could embarrass the NSX around a track for a third of the price.

My fucking eyes

I doubt it.

“Plus, the Acura looks better.”
Nah.

I don't think those compare

I don’t. It’s significantly lighter, has much better tires and a lot more downforce.

Depends what you’re after. If you want a blisteringly quick sports coupe, their performane is probably comparable. Maybe Hurracan is a better comparison.
Or maybe Corvette vs 488 (or maybe California). The ‘Vette is much cheaper, is it half the car?
![]() 05/12/2016 at 20:11 |

From a performance standpoint, no it is not half the car. However when you factor in the badge and the exclusivity I would say yes the Corvette is half the car. Personally though I would take the Vette

But what is badge and exclusivity really? Are Ferrari building a $100,000 car, selling it for $200,000 and pocketing half of it based purely on their heritage?

Probably. But again for a lot of people that doesn't matter it is all about the name
